The learner standard is about learning from and with others to improve overall student learning. This can involve participating in academic and teacher networks and talking to coworkers and peers to further educate yourself.
-ISTE Standards for Educators
When people hear the word "teacher," the first thing to come to mind most likely isn't the fact that educators also need to learn and be taught as well. Teachers need to be experts in their field, and need to constantly be teaching themselves new material. In order to improve our student's grades and learning, teachers need to stay up to date on technology, information, data, and so on. This can easily be achieved by participating in Networks with other educators or peers!
The Guardian makes a valid point in Teachers on Twitter: why you should join and how to get started when they stated: "There are so many incredible teachers, each with their own approach that they are happy to share. Twitter has opened my eyes to the fact that there isn’t just one teaching style. I am proud to say that I’ve embraced different ideas and believe my teaching has improved as a result."

Being a part of several networks has vastly improved my learning capabilities since the start of the semester. I never knew that there were sites such as NSTA or EdTalks on Twitter to turn to when I was in need of information. I had created my own Networks in the past, but none of them were "professional," as a majority of them had been created to discuss literature with friend groups. But now I receive an abundance of emails and newsletters from my Networks that provide me with resources and articles to help me educate myself and become a better teacher for my students!
